The new X Sight 360 safety package from Leica Geosystems can help boost
construction-site safety according to the firm. Utilising smart AI capabilities linked to CCTV equipment mounted on a construction machine, this system can monitor the presence of objects and personnel around working machines and determine levels of risk. Coupled to the proven technology from sister firm Xwatch, this can limit or restrict the motion of a piece of machinery to prevent injury or damage. The Xwatch package utilises a soft-stop system so that a machine will halt gradually, without the need for a sudden braking action.
The X Sight 360 system also records all the data relating to onsite incidents. These can be analysed and delivered as reports. The AI capabilities of the system can identify potential conflict zones and this allows action to be taken should the need arise.
The system can also take site safety further, identifying potential conflict issues away from the machine such as personnel working in trenches that may require trench boxes. And using the AI capabilities of the system can allow it to recognise other items of equipment or tools that may be distributed around the worksite. For example, the system could inform the machine operator where a particular attachment had been left onsite.
