Wirtgen is introducing a new variant of the W 210 XF milling machine model which has been adapted to deliver high-capacity road-surface reprofiling capabilities. Based on the chassis of the firm’s well-proven 2m-class milling machine, the W 210 XF replaces the milling drum for a series of grinding blades. In addition, the output conveyor is removed and replaced with slurry tanks to store wet slurry.
This special Wirtgen Precision Grinding (WPG) model is said to deliver high surface quality for a variety of different road pavements. The key feature of this variant is the new grinding shaft equipped with more than 300 diamond grinding disks. Rotating at high speed on the WPG shaft, these can deliver a high degree of evenness. The theoretical grinding depth is 0-50mm and the grinding width is 1,875mm. A wide range of profiles can be created with combinations from the large selection of grinding discs available. The machine can be configured to improve water run-off from road surfaces or to boost skid resistance, particularly for ageing concrete pavement on highways or airport runways. A powerful suction-extraction system is fitted to remove the grinding slurry, leaving a clean surface. When the slurry tanks are filled, these can be discharged into a truck for either recycling or safe disposal.
The machine also retains Wirtgen’s proven Level Pro Active grade- and slope-control system which ensures accurate surface grinding and improves evenness, cross slope and roughness characteristics.
