Local roads in the UK will benefit from an additional £7.3 billion in funding for road maintenance. The finance package is being provided by the UK Government.
This package Is intended to help reduce problems such as potholes on UK roads. Cutbacks in funding of road works by the previous administration has resulted in poor road conditions in many areas of the UK.
The funding will be for road maintenance between 2026 and 2027 as well as 2029 and 2030. Local authorities will have to ensure that they comply with best practice in highway maintenance.
