Major investment in road projects is being planned in Norway for 2022. The Norwegian Government is setting out plans for a budget of €3.83 billion for a range of road development works.
The budget will help pay for construction works to start on the E18/E39 route linking Gartnerløkka and Kolsdalen, as well as the E136 route between Breivika and Lerstad and the E8 route between Sørbotn and Laukslett. The budget will also help with funding for the National Highway 555 Sotrasambandet project, which Is being carried out under the PPP model.
The Sotrasambandet project is of particular importance for Norway. It involves building anew road in Norway’s Vestland county that will feature two lanes in either direction along  9km stretch. Included in the work will be the construction of a network of roads, tunnels, bridges and viaducts in Vestland. The project is being carried out by the Sotra Link consortium, which comprises comprises Australian firm Macquarie Group, the South Korean civil engineering company SK Ecoplant and the Italian contractor Webuild.
Other road projects that will benefit from the budget are the E6 stretch between Megården and Mørsvikbotn, the E16 between Hylland and Sleen and the E10/National Highway 85 project connecting Tjeldsund with Gullesfjordbotn and Langvassbukt. Several stretches of the E134 project between Røldal and Seljestad, Saggrenda and Elgsjø and the Oslo Fiord connection will also benefit from the budget.
Some €47.8 million of the budget will be used for the joint E16 highway/Ringerike rail project.
