Construction is underway for a 20km section of the 70km Banja Luka-Prijedor-Novi Grad highway project in the Republic of Srpska. A portion of the funding for the project has been provided by the Serbian Government. The majority of the financing however is being provided in the shape of a loan from Chinese institution Sinosure.
Chinese company Shandong was awarded the concession for the route by the Public Company Motorways of the Republic of Srpska. Local firms meanwhile are carrying out subcontracting work for the project, which is due for completion in 2026.
