Construction work is complete for one key Moroccan motorway, while work is now commencing on others.
The new motorway connecting Tiznit with Dakhla is finished, measuring 1,055km in total. The last section of the route to be completed now connects Tiznit with Guelmin. The road has been built in three stages, with the first linking Laâyoune with Dakhla and having been in use for some years. This new motorway will improve transport between Tiznit and Dakhla in the Western Sahara. Construction of this last stretch of the route did face a number of technical challenges owing to the difficult topology.
Meanwhile, construction is now starting on the upgrade of the Sidi Maarouf junction in Casablanca as well as the improvement of the motorway linking the Mohammedia-West and Ain Harrouda interchanges. These works are costing close to US$109 million and are being managed by a subsidiary of Société Nationale des Autoroutes du Maroc (ADM), ADM Projet. The work should be complete within two years.
