Mexico is setting out its national infrastructure plan. Under this plan, transport, and road transport in particular, is being prioritised.
In all 25 major road projects are now being planned as part of this programme. Costing US$5.74 billion, the work will improve transport and trade across the country. Maintenance work will also be carried out, in addition to new construction.
Key projects being addressed include the construction of the new Siervo de la Nacion highway, roads connecting to the new Santa Lucia Airport and upgrades to the highways linking Ecuandureo with La Piedad as well as Zitacuaro with Maravatio. Also being carried out are the Lagos de Moreno road, the Mitla-Tehuantepec highway and the San Luis Potosi highway lining Ventura with El Peyote.
