Upgrading work is planned for the B7 (E421) route in Luxemburg linking Colmar-Berg, Schieren and Ettelbrück. Budget cuts meant that the road was only built with three lanes when completed in 1993. The route will now be widened and improved so that it features two lanes in either direction.
The route includes the Ettelbrück bypass, also known as the Nordstrasse. The construction work is scheduled to commence in October 2026. There have been some complaints about the project from residents who are concerned about the noise and disruption. The plans call for at least one lane to remain open to traffic in either direction while the work is carried out.
One of the major parts of the project will be the new viaduct at Schieren.
