Liebherr completes Generation 8 line-up of crawler dozers

The latest generation combines engineering advancements with robust reliability, offering high-performance solutions for construction projects around the world. These new machines can utilise the latest in machine control systems, helping optimise operations for contractors. Production takes place at the Liebherr facility in Telfs, Austria, which has recently undergone significant investments to strengthen capacity and future-readiness.

High-performance crawler dozers for demanding construction tasks

The Generation 8 series spans a wide range of operating weights and power outputs to meet diverse construction-site requirements. The PR 716 G8, with an operating weight of 13.3tonnes, is ideal for compact, precise work, while the PR 776 G8, weighing up to 73.19tonnes and delivering 565kW (768 hp), is designed for the most challenging heavy-duty tasks.

All Generation 8 models feature a hydrostatic travel drive that ensures smooth, precise movement, maximising efficiency across all operating conditions. Integrated driver-assistance systems support operators by automatically controlling blade positioning for accurate grading, reducing fatigue and improving productivity on long shifts.

The machine cabs have been designed with operator comfort as a priority, featuring fully adjustable suspended seats, advanced climate control, large windows for optimal visibility, and intuitive touchscreen displays for easy control of functions. In addition, the Generation 8 dozers offer optimised fuel efficiency and low emissions, combining high performance with sustainable operation.

These enhancements make the machines highly versatile, capable of handling everything from large-scale earthmoving to fine grading and slope work.

Versatile applications across global construction sites

Generation 8 crawler dozers are engineered for diverse applications, including urban infrastructure projects, mining operations, road construction and environmental projects. Their robust undercarriage, powerful engines and adaptable blade configurations make them suitable for a wide range of terrain, from soft soils and sand to rocky landscapes. The PR 716 G8 and PR 726 G8 are particularly effective in precision tasks such as trenching, landscaping and fine grading. Both the 736 and the 746 are the perfect bridging machines to more demanding jobsites, while the larger crawler dozers from PR 756 G8 and PR 776 G8 excel in heavy-duty earthmoving, dam construction, and quarry operations.

The machines are GNSS-ready and have smart ECO modes that allow operators to execute tasks fully automatically with high accuracy, while minimising fuel consumption. In addition, the hydrostatic drivetrain delivers up to 20% fuel savings compared to conventional drivetrains, further enhancing efficiency. The availability of multiple blade types, including six-way and straight blades, ensures flexibility for diverse job requirements and site conditions. These machines are built to operate reliably in extreme climates, from hot and arid regions to cold and wet environments, making them a trusted choice for construction companies around the world.

Investments at Telfs: Ready for the Future

To support the production of the Generation 8 line-up, Liebherr has made substantial investments in its Telfs facility. These upgrades encompass expanded manufacturing capacity which have reduced lead times, advanced assembly lines, and the introduction of energy-efficient production technologies. Notably, a new logistics centre has taken effect at a cost of approximately €35 million, plus a new administration building, including a customer hospitality area, and substantial investments in the R&D department. The investments not only enhance output but also ensure that the facility retains its high manufacturing standards, meeting the growing demand for high-performance machinery across global markets.

In addition, Liebherr is reinforcing its readiness for future innovation by integrating smart manufacturing processes and quality-control systems. These measures guarantee that every Generation 8 machine meets the company’s stringent standards for reliability, safety, and performance.

Global impact and support for construction projects

The new Generation 8 crawler dozers are ready to support construction projects worldwide, offering contractors a combination of strength, precision and efficiency. Liebherr provides comprehensive after-sales support, including operator training, technical services, and spare-parts supply, ensuring long-term operational readiness. By combining advanced machine technology with global service networks, Liebherr enables customers to complete projects on time, within budget, and with high-quality results.

The Generation 8 crawler dozers mark a significant step in Liebherr’s mission to equip construction sites globally with powerful, precise and sustainable machinery. By combining innovative design, versatile applications and long-term support, Liebherr continues to strengthen its position as a trusted partner for infrastructure development worldwide.
