Australia’s Federal Government is providing necessary funding for infrastructure improvements to the Victoria State Government and Queensland State Government. The complete package for Victoria State is worth US$1.59 billion (A$2.57 billion) while the package for the Queensland State Government is worth $903.3 million (A$1.46 billion).
Of this sum for Victoria State, $204.2 million (A$330 million) is being used for road improvements such as maintenance and upgrade works in Victoria State. A budget of $92.8 million (A$150 million) will be used to improve the Camerons Lane Interchange. Improving Barwon Heads Road will cost $97.3 million (A$125 million). And $35.2 million (A$57 million) will be spent on the Ison Road Overpass, improving the connection to the Princess Freeway and addressing traffic delays at Werribee and Wyndham West.
The Queensland projects will include upgrades to the Bruce Highway worth $773.4 million (A$586.4 million) and the road linking Dohles Rocks road and Anzac Avenue worth $123.75 million (A$200 million).
In addition, Victoria State is to benefit from the construction of new cycle lanes in a project worth $1.55 billion (A$2.55 billion). New cycle lanes extending several hundred kilometres in total are planned for Melbourne and other cities in the state.
Also in Queensland, Construction of the Townsville Ring Road Stage 5 project should be complete by mid-2023. The project is costing $142.6 million (A$230 million), with management being handled by the Queensland Government’s Department of Transport and Main Roads. The work is being handled under a design build contract by the Georgiou Group.
