Construction is underway in Helsinki, Finland’s capital, for the Kruunuvuorensilta bridge. This cable-stayed structure will be Finland’s longest bridge when complete, measuring 1.2km in length.
The bridge will be the third of the Crown Bridges to be constructed. This new structure will provide a link between Laajasalo and Korkeasaari. The other two bridges link with Hakaniemi.
Construction for the Kruunuvuori Bridge began in October 2021. The project is due for final completion in 2027.
There have been concerns however over the noise that the structure generates. On windy days, a resonance occurs with parts of the structure causing noise to emerge. An investigation into the issue is being carried out. It is not thought to affect the bridge’s structural strength but could cause a disturbance to those residents in the vicinity if left unchecked.
