Narendra Modi, the prime minister of India, has approved the development of 34 national highways in the state of Gujarat.
Around US$480.5 million will be used to build bridges and other pre-construction activities, while $130 million will go towards the construction of roads. The plans include new and the renovation of highways in the western Indian coastal state.
Besides that, the 5.3km four-lane road between Ujala Junction and Vishala Junction will be made into six lanes.
The federal government noted that surveying for the projects has already begun.
Gujarat lies along the west coast of India and has a coastline of about 1,600km – the longest in the country. The state is the fifth-largest by area, covering around 196,024km², and is the ninth-most populous state, with a population of more than 60 million.
