Work will be carried out to improve or replace bridges on the A7 on the stretches that connect Bad Hersfeld/West and Homberg and Malsfeld and Homberg. In addition, work will be carried out for the A44 for stretches between Kassel-Ost and Helsa-Ost and the Bergshäuser Bridge. And work is also anticipated for the junction at Schwalmstadt as well as the Ohmtal autobahn triangle (A49/A5).
Meanwhile also in Germany, work to road tunnels for the B42 at Oberkassel and Oberdollendorf is nearing completion and these will be reopened to traffic in April 2026, once testing and commissioning has been completed by Straßen.
In addition, replacement of the ageing Schnellweg bridge on federal highway 3 at Groß-Buchholz will be a new bridge. The proposal for a tunnel has been ruled out as being less suitable. A temporary bridge will be erected in 2028, which will allow the existing structure to be demolished. Construction work for the new bridge is anticipated to commence in 2030, with funding being supplied by the Federal Government. The cost of the bridge replacement has yet to be revealed.
