Upgrade work worth €118 million is planned for Finland’s Highway 25. The project forms part of the development programme from the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency (Väylävirasto) for the 2027-2034 period.
Improvement work will be carried out to the stretch linking Langansböle and Västerbacka in South Finland. The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency is finalising the plans for the project.
Interchanges at Lohja and Asematie will be upgraded. Road links around Nopo, Vihti and Raasepori will also be improved as part of the project. The project will improve transport to and from the port of Hanko, boosting capacity for heavy trucks as well as traffic safety and is needed as Highway 25 has one of the worst safety records of any road in Finland.
The work is expected to improve transport for this area of Finland, which lies to the south of the city of Turku and to the west of capital Helsinki on the country’s South Western coast. The tip of the Hanko Peninsula is the most southerly point of mainland Finland.
