The Republic of the Congo has sourced a loan to help pay for essential road works. The finance package will go towards improvement works for the 93km N3 road connecting Dolisie with Kibangou.
The US$58.8 million loan is being provided by the Development Bank of Central African States (BDEAC). The project includes building bridges to span the Niari River as well as the Louvaou River. A further 53km of rural roads will be improved, boosting access from remote areas to the country’s main road network.
The N3 road is an important international route for the Republic of the Congo(not to be confused with the neighbouring Democratic Republic of the Congo) as it connects the capital,Brazzaville, with Libreville, the capital of Gabon. Upgrading this route will ease international transport and trade between the two nations. The project is one of 11 deemed a priority of the regional economic programme (PER) of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC).
