Discussions are in hand for a new bridge to connect the Democratic Republic of Congo with neighbouring Republic of the Congo. The new bridge would carry both road and rail links, connecting the two capital cities.
Kinshasa is the capital of Democratic Republic of Congo while Brazzaville is the capital of Republic of the Congo. The new bridge would improve transport between the two nations. The project is one of the aims of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development.
Should discussions between the two nations continue as planned over the project, construction could start at the end of 2025.
