A new Hitachi ZX490-7 excavator is said to be providing an important combination of comfort and reliability, despite the challenging quarry environment the machine is being used in.
The Hitachi excavator is helping to extract gravel and sand for KSV Kies- und Sand-Vertrieb Biberach in Germany’s Upper Swabia region. The machine was supplied by Kiesel and was selected for its reliability, precision, safety and comfort for the operator.
The lower noise and vibration levels in the cab have particularly impressed operator Bochtler: “The ZX490-7 is significantly quieter than the ZX520-5 we bought six years ago,” he says. “You can adjust the seating position, and the console is ergonomically designed and offers easy access to the controls.”
The client uses the ConSite Pocket app, which helps to maximise uptime. The fleet team keeps track of operating time, as well as the quality of the engine and hydraulic oil, which is monitored continuously by the patented ConSite oil sensors. ConSite also provides a monthly summary with data analysis of the machine’s productivity, efficiency, and downtime.
Biberach’s operation features long operating hours, high stress on machinery, and fluctuating material conditions. In this challenging environment, the Hitachi is said to offer a dependable working solution.
The company is also pleased with the service provided by the Hitachi dealer. “Reliable customer service from the retailer or manufacturer is an important component for us and a decisive purchasing criterion,” said commercial director Michael Högerle. “Kiesel delivers on that front.”
