Construction work is well underway on the 30km project for express lanes on Interstate 25 in the US state of Colorado. The project is around 50% complete and should be finished by 2023. Construction of the new Prospect Road Interchange should be complete by the end of 2021 and work is now commencing on a new overpass section.
The improvement work is needed to reduce traffic congestion on this stretch of I-25, which connects Denver with Colorado Springs. Population growth in the area has resulted in the section of highway suffering frequent delays at peak periods.
