The UAE is planning to spend $46.3 billion on transport infrastructure development between now and 2030. One of the biggest projects will be for a fourth federal highway measuring 120km. This will feature six lanes in either direction and be able to carry up to 360,000 vehicles/day.
Both Emirates Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road will be widened so that they feature five lanes in either direction. This will boost capacity by 65% and reduce journey times for drivers by lowering congestion. Similarly, Etihad Road will be widened so that It features six lanes in either direction, which will boost capacity by 60%.
The investment programme is intended to reduce delays and boost free flowing traffic across the UAE.
