A new highway in India will boost transport between Raipur in Chhattisgarh State and Visakhapatnam Port in Andhra Pradesh State. Stretching 465km, the highway is costing $1.83 billion to construct. Completion of the highway is expected in late 2026.
The project is being managed by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways. The new route will help reduce congestion on the existing NH-26. Journey times between Raipur and Visakhapatnam will be reduced to five hours, compared with 12 at present. The link will provide a major route that will boost trade and transport, particularly as Chhattisgarh State is landlocked.
