Transport infrastructure development is being prioritised by the Tanzanian Government in a bid to boost economic growth in the country. The infrastructure works include developments to road, air, and sea transportation. The island of Zanzibar and other smaller islands are in line for several road upgrades as part of the programme.
Two of the key projects are for the Amani flyover and the Mwanakwerekwe flyover. The former is now 36% complete while the latter is 90% complete. The work is expected to help boost tourism on Zanzibar.
