Construction work for a new, $760 million landmark bridge, in Taiwan is close to completion. The innovative Danjiang Bridge has been designed jointly by Zaha Hadeed Architects, Leonhardt, Andrä & Partner and Sinotech Engineering Consultants.
The new bridge spans the Tamsui River, which flows through Taipei. When the new link has been completed, the bridge will cut journey times in the Taipei Port area as well as boosting development. Once the bridge is finished, it will link Bali with Tamsui and will be the world’s largest asymmetric cable-stayed bridge featuring a single tower. The link is expected to open in May 2026.
The innovative bridge measures 920m in length, with a main span of 450m. The bridge has two lanes in each direction for cars, vans and trucks as well as lanes for motorcycles, pedestrians and cyclists. The structure will also be able to carry a light rail link that is planned to be added in the future.
