Austrian contractor STRABAG is now building a new dual carriageway connection for the Romanian economic centre Oradea. The 19km stretch is expected to take two years to complete and the deal is worth €111 million.
The contract was awarded to STRABAG by Romania’s National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR). The new dual carriageway link will connect the city of Oradea and the A3 highway.
The contract comprises a dual carriageway with two lanes in each direction separated by a concrete step barrier as well as the construction of 12 buildings and the connection of existing country and state roads. The construction work is scheduled to start in March 2022.
With this project,STRABAG is making a further contribution to the expansion of Romania’s transportation infrastructure. The company is currently building a section of the A3 motorway from Ungheni to Târgu Mureș. A section between Ungheni and Ogra was already handed over in 2018.
