Komatsu says that its sophisticated Smart Construction Remote technology will now be available as a standard. This system will be included with all purchases of Komatsu-branded guidance and control systems. The package includes Intelligent Machine Control (iMC), Smart Construction 3D Machine Guidance, and the newly launched PC220LCi-12, which features iMC 3.0 technology.
The offering applies for the entire lifetime of the machine, reinforcing a commitment to digital innovation and job site efficiency.
Smart Construction Remote is a cloud-based solution that enables users to access and control both Komatsu and non-Komatsu machine guidance and control systems remotely. The package boosts troubleshooting speed and efficiency, reducing downtime and improving operational performance. Additionally, design files can be sent to machines even when they are turned off, ensuring more effective coordination between the office and the field.
By enabling remote access to machines, Smart Construction Remote minimises the need for site visits, further reducing fuel consumption and reducing CO2 emissions. These benefits are particularly valuable for companies managing multiple job sites. In Europe alone, this solution has saved customers over 40,000 trips to their sites in the past three years and has helped firms to achieve strong growth figures for the past five years.
The brand-agnostic nature of Smart Construction Remote underscores Komatsu’s ongoing efforts to prioritise interoperability and ease of digital transformation, fostering innovation and accelerating the adoption of smart technologies.
By making Smart Construction Remote a standard, Komatsu says it is boosting fleet connectivity and supporting customers in optimising their workflows as they transition to more digital operations. This initiative helps achieve the firm’s aim of advancing technologies that promote sustainability, efficiency, and safety across the industry.
