Work is said to be progressing on track in Myanmar (Burma) on the Ayeyawady Bridge (Pakokku) project.

The authorities in the Russian city of St Petersburg are setting aside funds for road construction and repairs for 2012.

Chinese contractor Shanghai Sheng Xin Construction Co is using an Atlas Copco XAS 67 compressor on a new road bridge project in Shanghai. The new bridge is at Dan Ba Road, one of the main arteries in this older part of the city.

Funding for a 3km cable-stayed bridge in Vietnam's Mekong Delta region will be boosted with financial backing from the Export-Import Bank of Korea (Korea Eximbank).

Plans are being set out for a new bridge to link Thailand with Laos. Work on the fourth Thailand-Lao bridge will commence this month.

Bidding is strong for the 30 year concession deal covering the Goethals Bridge linking New York and New Jersey. The contract will include financing, construction and management of the bridge and changes to the road alignment in a deal worth US$1.3 billion.

Plans are now moving forward for the construction of a 3.2km bridge in Australia's New South Wales.
