Both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam are planned to benefit from major new road projects.
Widening work is being proposed for Hanoi’s Ring Road 2. The stretch between Nga Tu So and Cau Giay suffers major congestion at peak periods. This section of road needs an increase in capacity as well as more efficient interchanges that will boost traffic flow. Options for the route are being considered at present by the authorities.
Widening work is also being planned for a 22km stretch of the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh Expressway. This will feature five lanes in either direction where it runs through Ho Chi Minh City. The stretch in Dong Nai will have four lanes in either direction once work is complete in late 2026.
