Work on a massive tunnel project will commence in Sydney,Australia in 2022. Called the Western Harbour Tunnel, the project will see the construction of a new 6.5km link for the city. The new tunnel will connect with the Warringah Freeway, which is also now to be upgraded as part of a wider plan to reduce traffic congestion both in and around the city. In all, building the new Western Harbour Tunnel and improving the Warringah Freeway is expected to cost in the region of US$10.8 billion (A$14 billion).
