JCB is now fitting its new Tier 4 JCB Ecomax diesel engine to its latest rough terrain forklift range. The engine delivers the same 55kW output as the previous Dieselmax motor, but meets the Tier 4 emissions regulations without the need for a diesel particulate filter or an SCR exhaust after-treatment system. This reduces running costs for customers and the Ecomax engine is being fitted to all four models in JCB’s RTFL range: the 926, 930, 940 and 950.

JCB’s John Patterson CBE, who rose through the ranks from field service engineer to Group chief executive, has retired after 43 years’ service. Equipment manufacturer JCB plans to invest €179.5 million (£150 million) in its manufacturing facilities in the UK. The investment will be targeted at its operations in Staffordshire and this will add some 2,500 to the firm’s payroll by 2018. JCB chairman Lord Bamford will officially take his seat in the House of Lords on November 7th, the company has announced. Sir Anthony Bamford was made a Life Peer in August 2013 and will now be known as Lord Bamford after taking the formal title of Baron Bamford of Daylesford in the County of Gloucestershire and of Wootton in the County of Staffordshire.

JCB has opened its biggest dealer depot in the world, at Ekaterinburg in Russia. Stroykomplekt (SKL) is the JCB dealer in Ekaterinburg, which is Russia’s fourth largest city and the new depot represents and investment of some €7.12 million. The facility will provide support to JCB customers in an area of Russia covering some 7 million km². The UK's biennial construction equipment exhibition, Plantworx, is moving to a new home for its next show in 2015. Organiser CEA (the Construction Equipment Association) announced today that the event's 11,000 visitors will be making their way to Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome in Leicestershire for three days from June 2 to 4 2015. The new site covers 135,000 square metres and will offer live digging zones as well as a hard standing area that will be used for both exhibition stands and car parking.
