Construction work for India’s Kacchi Dargah-Bidupur bridge in Bihar State is well underway and now looks to be completed by the close of 2025. The project is being carried out by the Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL).
Spanning the River Ganges, the new bridge will link the NH 31 and NH 322 routes and will lie parallel to an existing structure. Building the 9.76km bridge will reduce traffic congestion in the area, particularly in the busy city of Patna, capital of Bihar State. Much of the funding for the $584 million project is being supplied by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The Kacchi Dargah-Bidupur bridge will feature three lanes in either direction and will be India’s longest extra-dosed cable bridge. Although the bridge project had been planned for completion in mid-2025, flooding in 2024 delayed the work .
