Two major road contracts have been awarded in India’s Uttar-Pradesh State that are worth a total of US$1.16 billion. The work will be handled by IRB Infrastructure (IRB) and involves building a 130km highway featuring three lanes in either direction.
The contract was awarded by the Uttar Pradesh Motorway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA). The stretch of highway forms part of the 595km Ganga Expressway project and IRB will construct the stretch liking Meerut with Badaun. The contract represents a major boost for IRB, which was recently acquired by Spanish firm Cintra, itself part of Ferrovial.
