German engine firm Hatz says that its latest 3H50T diesel offers a compact power package for use in European Stage V emissions compliant machines. This is the newest addition to the H series and is a three-cylinder diesel that is said to offer high torque and EU Stage V compliance. The 3H50T is available in the Fan-to-Flywheel version as well as in an open power unit (OPU) variant.
The new engine competes in the class for under 19kW units and extends the product range of H-series engines. It has a displacement of 1.5litres and a maximum torque output of 130Nm, which the firm claims is the highest torque in its class.
The Hatz 3H50T achieves its output without an intercooler. It has a compact design without diesel particulate filter (DPF) gives significant benefits particularly for use in compact machines. It also has a low weight and compact installation dimensions, while its efficiency exceeds older engines in the 19-37kW class.
The new Hatz 3H50T engine satisfies current and future emission regulations, also including EU Stage V as well as EPA Tier IV final. The engine suits use in compact machines with restricted space conditions in which a diesel particulate filter is not feasible. The firm says that the 3H50T achieves a low particle mass that also undercuts the limit value by a factor of 10 without any further exhaust emission after-treatment such as exhaust gas recirculation or diesel oxidation catalyst.
