Contractor FM Conway will handle a package of road works for Brighton and Hove Council in the UK

FM Conway has won a Highways Services Contract from Brighton and Hove City Council (BHCC) in the UK. The firm will deliver two out of three Lots of a major Highways Services Framework. This contract will run until 2026 with the option for a further four years extension in two-year increments.

The framework delivery will be split into three separate operational Lots with FM Conway securing both Lot 1 and Lot 3. Lot 1, valued at £160 million, will see FM Conway operate alongside fellow suppliers, Edburton Contractors and RJ Dance, to provide Civil Works, Carriageway Resurfacing and Improvements across projects of varying size and nature, including environmental enhancement works. Lot 3 is valued at £6 million and has been awarded solely to FM Conway to deliver Road Lining and Studs Works across Brighton & Hove.

The contract’s scope of works will enable FM Conway to provide its wide range of knowledge to deliver improvement projects and asset renewals across Brighton & Hove’s infrastructure, including 60km of road network, 975km of footways, as well as a range of unique coastal structures along the council’s 14km of coastline.

FM Conway offers expertise ranging from bitumen supply and material laboratory testing through to the delivery of sustainable highways infrastructure improvements. The business will be working in collaboration with BHCC to reinforce the City’s reputation as a leader in sustainability and to maximise social value within the local community.

Selected in part for its drive to deliver materials innovation and low carbon solutions, FM Conway’s own carbon ambitions closely align with BHCC’s commitment to be carbon net zero by 2030 and will be a key focus of this new partnership.

FM Conway has experience delivering surfacing and drainage works in the West and East Sussex area via its Newhaven Asphalt Plant, however the award of this new framework will now further expand the business’ maintenance service offering within the South of England.
