A programme of bridge building in Egypt’s capital Cairo will improve transport and help cut the chronic congestion in the city. In all, 40 bridges are being built in Cairo, with the project being funded by the Egyptian Government.
The programme of works is worth just over US$895 million in all. The work is focussed on East Cairo, with each bridge costing from $16.8-22.4 million.
Meanwhile, around $142 million has been spent on building roads for the New Alamein City urban development project.
In addition, the drilling portion of the work is now complete for the Ahmed Handy Tunnel 2 link running under the Suez Canal. This tunnel project should be complete by July 2021.
