Key highways in China are to benefit from major improvement and maintenance works.
Work is now underway for the 25km Taichang to Changzhou stretch of the Shanghai-Wuhan Highway. Widening the section is expected to cost a healthy US$5.3 billion and take 36 months to complete.
A feasibility study is planned for the G206 Ruijin Jiguang Expressway Ruijin South Exit to Huichang in Jiangxi.
The estimate for the rebuilding work is US$196 million. The 27km stretch of the highway to be upgraded will see safety improvements as well as upgrades for the carriageway.
Meanwhile, a budget of $1.2 billion is being set for rural road works in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The plans call for 6,000km of roads to be constructed or improved.
In addition, Gansu Province is setting out an impressive budget worth $19.1 billion for road development works. This will include work for 500km of expressways, 200km of secondary roads and surfacing 10,000km of rural roads that connect with villages.
