A contractor, Power China, has been using two CSM containerised asphalt mixing plants on a 1,152 km road project in Pakistan where temperatures frequently rose above 40°C.
The plants’ consistent output was beneficial for a project that is helping slash travel time from Sukkur to Multan by two-thirds. The new road connection is helping to improve local transport by opening up central Pakistan’s north-south traffic arteries.
Lintec & Linnhoff China sold two Lintec CSM4000 containerised asphalt mixing plants to established customer PowerChina Group to support the construction of the 392km M-5 section of the Peshawar-Karachi Motorway (PKM). This is the country’s longest motorway, which connects Sukkur, in Sindh Province, and Multan, in Punjab.
Both plants produced over 600,000 tonnes of hot mix asphalt by the time the project was completed in late 2019, 13 days ahead of the 36-month schedule.
During the construction of this project, there was a heavy demand on the rapid assembly and disassembly capabilities of the asphalt mixing plants, as well as their mobility. The mobility of Lintec’s CSM range was beneficial, with the shipping container design making transport easier and removing the need for concrete foundations. The two Lintec CSM4000 plants produced over 600,000tonnes of hot mix asphalt for the longest motorway project which connects Sukkur, in Sindh Province, and Multan, in Punjab.
The units performed reliably despite local temperatures passing 40°C. To adapt to the extreme environment and heavy workloads, the project adopted a new standard of rutting resistance asphalt for the road surface, capable of withstanding high temperatures up to 80°C.
Due to the batching accuracy of the CSM4000 AMPs, this mix was delivered with consistency, ensuring material quality for the surface and providing resistance against flooding.
