Approval has been given for the $9.5 billion ring road project planned for Odisha State in India. The ring road will feature three lanes in either direction.
The Capital Region Ring Road (Bhubaneswar Bypass) will be access controlled and will extend 111km. Construction of the road is expected to improve transport to and from Bhubaneswar, reducing traffic delays and also boosting the local economy as well as connectivity with neighbouring states.
Building the new road will help address heavy congestion in some areas, such as on the highway between Rameshwar and Tangi. The project will be carried out under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM).
The new Capital Ring Road will provide improved connectivity to Bhubaneswar Airport, Khordha Railway Station, a proposed logistics facility and the ports of Puri and Astrang.
