India’s busy capital Delhi looks set to benefit from a new elevated highway in the south of the city. The $160 million project has received approval from the Finance Committee of the Delhi Government.
The 5km link will feature three lanes in either direction, linking Saket G Block and Pul Prahladpur. The project will be carried out in two distinct phases, with stretches of approximately equal length. The first phase will be between Saket G Block and Sangam Vihar, with the second phase running between Maa Anandmayee Marg and Pul Prahladpur.
The project is expected to take until late 2027 to complete and construction work is commencing in due course. Once it is finished, the new elevated highway will help cut traffic delays in the city, known for its chronic congestion.
