The weight distribution in Bobcat’s new E25 reduced tail swing (RTS) compact excavator is said to be optimised through the use of proven ‘4-plate box’ technology to reduce he weight of the workgroup, which moves the centre of gravity of the machine towards the back of the excavator. As a result, the E25 does not require any additional counterweight. This enhances the stability and ensures that the E25 model can be transported by trailer more easily.

Police in the West Virginia were forced to close highway lanes on a key route in the state, due to a spillage of Lego building blocks. The Lego fell from a container being carried on top of a car as a family made a Sunday afternoon trip. High winds lifted the top of the container and the driver and her son quickly realised the Lego was spilling into the roadway of I-79. Police were called and they closed several lanes to allow highway to pick up the building blocks. The mother of the 11-year-old apologised

A car salesman in the US had an unpleasant shock when a test drive with a prospective customer turned into a wild ride. The unsuspecting salesman had no idea that the person pretending to be a customer was in fact a NASCAR racing driver when the two got into the Chevrolet Camaro.

A car park in Edinburgh is being investigated by archeologists following the discovery of remains belonging to a nobleman. The grave was found by construction workers who alerted archeologists to the site. The investigations also found the foundations of a monastery on the site, which is known to have been the location of Edinburgh’s ‘Tounis Scule’, The Royal High School, in the 16th and 18th century. The age of the grave means it is unlikely to contain the remains of a parent ferrying a child to or from sc

The Japanese authorities are investigating a crash that involved a large number of expensive sportscars last year. Six people were injured in thecrash although luckily there were no fatalities. The incident resulted in damage costing some US$4 million and involved 10 high performance cars, as well as one rather more conventional vehicle. Footage of the incident shot afterwards showed the damaged Ferraris lying along the highway, with broken body panels strewn across the roadway.

In Naples a hapless driver caused an unexpected delay when he attempted a u-turn in a narrow city street. The man managed to manoeuvre his car in such as way as to only be able to move forward and back a few centimetres at a time. Despite the small size of his Fiat 500, his bumbling meant the car blocked the road. Other vehicles soon began to queue on either side, hooting horns to show their displeasure at having to wait. Thieves in Turkey recently stole a bridge, which is then thought to have been cut up for scrap. The 25m long bridge weighed 22tonnes and was located close to a small village in Turkey’s western province of Kocaeli. When villagers realised the bridge had disappeared they called police who quickly ascertained that the structure had been cut to piece and hauled away for scrap. This follows a similar incident in India when a steel bridge was stolen by enterprising thieves, who convinced locals with forged docum

From New Zealand comes the news that three dogs have been taught to drive a car. The dogs came from an animal shelter and were taught to drive so as to highlight their intelligence. The vehicle used had a number of special features to allow the dogs to steer with their paws.
