A major programme of road upgrades and repairs is planned for Macedonia. The Macedonian Government has announced plans to spend €132 million on improving its road network in 2015. The majority of the funds will be used to upgrade regional roads, which will receive some €124 million of the budget. Meanwhile local road upgrades will receive just €8 million. Millions of pounds worth of JCB machines are in danger of being lost aboard a stricken cargo ship that has been listing in The Solent river on England’s south coast. A spokesperson for JCB in the United Kingdom said 105 JCB machines are on board the Hoegh Osaka that has been grounded in The Solent. Machines include 50-tonne and 33-tonne JCB tracked excavators, backhoe loaders, Loadall telescopic handlers, wheeled loading shovels and Teletruk forklifts. The FortSeal preservation product is undergoing a trial by Leicestershire County Council in the UK to assess its future potential in positively affecting the council’s road maintenance budget by prolonging the life of the county’s roads.

Uruguay requires more investment in roads, according to a report conducted by the economic studies centre for the construction industry, Centro de Estudios Economicos de la Industria de la Construccion (Ceeic). Pakistan’s Government has unveiled plans to upgrade the highway connecting Islamabad with Lahore. The M-2 highway is one of the most important road links in Pakistan and is seen as crucial for its national transportation network. In Mozambique a budget of US$100 million has been set for road rehabilitation work to be carried out in Nampula Province. The upgrades will be carried out for a total distance of a 300km and will be carried out in phases. Work will commence in 2015. The road improvements will be carried out on the Nametil-Nampula city, Moma-Nametil city, Angoche-Moma, Monapo-Angoche and Angoche-Nametil sections of road.
