Sleipner has supplied the first of its new heavyweight E550 excavator moving systems. The E550 was introduced last year for moving excavators in the 550tonne class and the first set has been sold to an un-named company in Africa. It is essentially a dolly system consisting of two sets of large-wheeled dollies with low-slung ramps and drop axles. One end of the excavator tracks is lifted off the ground by driving on to the ramps.

Sleipner will explain the principle behind its “revolutionary method to improve the overall productivity in open-pit mines, quarries and construction sites.” The improvement is based on moving excavators around the site much faster than before, and additionally the Sleipner method saves time and money and considerably increases the excavators’ life, says the company.
