Nigeria is working on concession packages for 12 highway links in the country. The longest of these will be for the 270km road connecting Lokoja with Benin. The others are the 258km Shagamu-Benin road, the 200km Enugu-Port Harcourt road, the 193km Abuja-Lokoja road, the 161km road linking Onitsha, Owerri and Aba, the 150km Kano-Katsina road, the 129km road from Ilorin to Jebba and the 125km Benin to Asaba road. They also include the 122km road between Abuja, Keffi and Akwanga, the 100km road between Kano and Shuari, the 96km road from Posiskum to Damatur, the 80km Lagos-Otta-Abeokuta road and the 79km road linking Lagos with Badagry and Seme.
A new programme of expansion is planned for Nigeria’s federal highway network. The Nigerian Government is working on plans to attract investment to help finance the infrastructure development plan.
Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is to benefit from five separate road development projects.  The work will be carried out in the FCT area around the capital, Abuja, and will cost $68.5 million. The work includes building a new car park and access road for a rail facility, as well as new roads on Bwari and Gwagwalada.
Meanwhile, the authorities in Delta State have set a budget of $42 million for 15 separate road and bridge works. These will include building and improving new local roads, as well as a key bridge link.
