Several important road links in Zimbabwe are benefiting from improvement works.

One of the roads being upgraded is the route linking Beitbridge on the border with South Africa to Zimbabwe’s second city Bulawayo and the important tourist destination of Victoria Falls. This road also passes by the Hawangi Game Reserve, another important tourist destination for the country. The highway linking Zimbabwe’s capital Harare with Chirundu on the border with Zambia as well as the road connecting Harare with Nyamapanda are also benefiting from upgrade work. In addition, improvements are also being carried out to the Trabablas interchange.

A boost to tourism will deliver a key economic benefit for Zimbabwe given the country’s struggling economy.

Completion of these projects is intended for March 2026. However, Zimbabwe’s Transport Ministry exceeded its planned budget for road improvement work and there are concerns as to how future works will be funded.
