Construction work is now underway in Sarawak State, Malaysia for key road projects. Work has commenced for the new Jalan Teku Pasai Siong-Kemuyang highway as well as improvements for the Jalan Teku-Jalan Teku Pasai Siong-Jalan Kemuyang link.
With the Jalan Teku-Jalan Teku Pasai and Jalan Sibu-Bintulu routes being upgraded to dual carriageways, journey times will be reduced and capacity increased. Malaysia is benefiting from a series of major road projects that will expand its highway network and boost transport.
Meanwhile, in Penang State plans are being drawn up for the Pan-Island Link 1 (PIL1) project. This new link will feature six interchanges and connect Gurney with Southeast Penang State. Once the new link is opened it will reduce congestion on the existing Jalan Masjid Negeri and Lebuhraya Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu routes.
