Estimates suggest that the cost of the Northern Metropolis Highway project in Hong Kong will now be reduced. The 23km project was originally expected to cost US$145.1 million (HK$1.13 billion). It is now expected to cost $89.8 million (HK$700 million).
However, the project is now likely to take a further 12 months to complete, with tendering due in 2027 and the construction start anticipated in 2028. The work will help reduce Hong Kong’s chronic traffic congestion issues.
