Webuild’s US subsidiary Lane Construction is carrying is carrying out a $152 million package of works in South Carolina (SC) that will redevelop a major highway interchange. The firm was awarded the contract in late 2024 by South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) and is now working on the project to redevelop the key interchange on the I-77.
The work to build the new interchange includes the construction of four new bridges as well as new on and off ramps for I-77. There will be a new east-west road to link Exit 26 to the US 21 highway, which will also be realigned to accommodate a grade-separated Norfolk Southern rail spur. Meanwhile, I-77 itself will benefit from new traffic lanes in the northbound direction.
The firm says that it will ensure traffic disturbance will be kept to a minimum during the period of the construction work.
Volkswagen has established the Scout Motors brand as a range that will include SUVs and pickup trucks aimed primarily at the US market, having bought the rights to use the name some years ago. Production is expected to commence in late 2026 according to reports in the motoring press. The Scout brand revives the name used for the four wheel drive car made by International Harvester until 1985. International Harvester also made construction machinery, with parts of this business being taken over by Dresser. Komatsu bought out much of the Dresser construction machinery business, although the Polish Dressta bulldozer firm was acquired by LiuGong.
